Building a new collegiate program is a huge task and undertaking and our guests have done an excellent job at conquering this goal.  James Reynolds has developed a Wrestling program and a culture that Drury University can be proud of and support.  Tom Ruck has done the same with the Drury University Shotgun Team.  Bonus!  Team captain and multi-medalist Quincy Standage also expresses how valuable her experience has been on the Shotgun Team.

These sport dads have being a positive influence and healthy sport parent down to a tee.  Their wise words and advice of supporting and encouraging their children in athletics through playing in the yard, releasing them to the coaches and games, and loving their kids through success and failure inspire dads to embrace and cherish their time as a sport dad.  Stan Sechlor, Shawn Widel, Terry Kleier, and my co-host, Dr. Tommy Burnett did an excellent job!

Each one has a different angle and story, very interesting! We pay tribute to all of the ultimate sport moms out there!

Thank you to Darrell Smith for bringing in studio three of his champions from Smitty's Gym in Springfield, Missouri.  Alicia Ocero Arturo Moreno, and Luis Velasquez shared their passion for boxing and for each other and the family environment that Coach Smitty has provided at his training center.  These champions fight hard in the ring, and live with honor outside of the ring. Listen to the benefits of boxing and appreciate what this sport has done for so many of our youth in this area.

Guests - Robert Low, Hopkins In-Laws

In this episode, we are off to the races with local race horse owner Robert Low.  We took an inside look into his racing entity and got a close up look at Magnum Moon, heavy contender for the Kentucky Derby. We also learned the basics of horse racing and what it is like to have a horse run on such a vibrant stage.  The Kentucky Derby will be Saturday, May 5th at 5:30 (CST). Go Magnum Moon

We also caught up with the in-laws about their time raising and racing thoroughbred racehorses. JoAnne Hopkins, Scott Hopkins, Mike Hopkins, and Linda Shuler shared what a family event it was to take their horses to the track to race.

Our "Trivia Throwdown-Showdown" two hour special was .a success!  We crowned new Champions, by a narrow margin, Corey Riggs and Don West edged out the defending champions, Art Hains and Guy Newcomb.  Ned Reynolds and Mark Stillwell played a stellar game, ending up 3rd.  Thank you to Dr. Ron Snodgrass for officiating and keeping score, to Momma JoBelle Hopperfor cooking, and to Duane Darr for producing.

Mike Wilson will be inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and Mark Fisher will receive the Gary Filbert Lifetime Achievement Award.

Burnett Handball Courts.  Gretchen Gregory, Laura Blankenship, Kristina Picco, Taylor Rumping, Sam Esser, and Max Langmack, along with their coach Tommy Burnett join us and talk about the secret to their success this year as a team.  Each All-American has taken a different path and road to success, thank you to them for sharing!
